Ragazzo Volpe
Abitavamo nel bosco.
Percorrevamo vene di terriccio
o su per ore umbratili
le code spenzolanti, il legno azzurro.
Genti di pelle e nuvolaglie.
Gli occhi dei rapaci erano bianchi
lumi ossuti nella notte.
Rocce, resti, ramaglie.
Nel mezzo della pietra stava l’acqua
sospinta sulle sagome del mondo –
una nerezza antica dal fondale.
Io l’annusavo corrermi nel volto
dentro il corpo rotto, arborescente.
L’erba che si fa limpida e tagliente.
Fox boy
We lived in the forest.
We wandered through veins of topsoil
or up through shadowy hours
tails dangling, the blue-tinged wood.
People made of skin and wispy clouds.
Birds of prey with eyes of white,
bony lamps in the night.
Rocks, remains, twigs.
In the centre of the stone there was water
pushed upon the outlines of the world—
an ancient blackness from the depths.
I smelled it rushed into my face
inside my broken, tree-like body.
The grass becoming clear and cutting.
Αγόρι αλεπού
Ζούσαμε στο δάσος.
Περιπλανιόμασταν μέσα στις φλέβες του επιφανειακού χώματος
ή ανεβαίναμε μέσα από σκιώδεις ώρες,
με τις ουρές να κρέμονται, στο γαλάζιο ξύλο.
Άνθρωποι φτιαγμένοι από δέρμα και αέρινα σύννεφα.
Αρπακτικά πουλιά με μάτια λευκά,
οστέινα φανάρια μέσα στη νύχτα.
Βράχια, απομεινάρια, κλαδάκια.
Στο κέντρο της πέτρας υπήρχε νερό,
ωθούμενο πάνω στα περιγράμματα του κόσμου—
μια αρχέγονη μαυρίλα από τα βάθη.
Μύρισα το άρωμά του να ορμά στο πρόσωπό μου
μέσα στο σπασμένο, δεντροειδές σώμα μου.
Το χορτάρι γινόταν διάφανο και κοφτερό.
