Nocturnal Νude

Effervescent, her body naked
solitary under the spotlights
at the centre of the workroom
us all gathered round it
on the floor, our instruments in hand
calculating, weighing the shine
the eyes the thighs the shoulders
the shapes in space, the air
her gaze and thoughts
mostly the weight she cast
onto the pedestal, the tiles
but more her light on us
and her long shadow
beyond the steamed up windows
the cold that split the wind in half
though in the workspace her warmth
once more would save our dreams tonight.

Γυμνό νυχτός
Πολυτεχνείο 1993
Άχνιζε το σώμα της γυμνό
μοναχικό κάτω απ’ τις λάμπες
στη μέση της αιθούσης
και γύρω γύρω εμείς
με όργανα στα χέρια καταγής
μετρούσαμε ζυγίζαμε τη λάμψη
τα μάτια τους ώμους τους μηρούς
τα σχήματα του χώρου τον αέρα
το βλέμμα και τις σκέψεις της
κυρίως το βάρος που έριχνε
στο βάθρο στα πλακάκια
μα πιο πολύ το φως της πάνω μας
και τη μακριά σκιά της
πίσω από τα θολωμένα τζάμια
το κρύο έσπαζε τον άνεμο στα δυο
μα μέσα στο εργαστήριο η ζέστα της
θα έσωζε κι απόψε τα όνειρά μας.

At nights I come awake by the distant din
of the protests I did not go
smoke shapes silent gestures
Bodies pulsing
the air thick with shouts
feet stomping on the ground
a light rhythm an octopus
spreading grinds groans
crumbles of a future place
Inside their clenched firsts they balance
thin threads of dreams
Do not sing yet
They fill the alleys
the appartment buildings’ entrances
they climb the stairs
they crowd the small living room
I feel their soundless steps
approaching the bedroom
I open and they go across
I switch side
and I unite with them

Mέρες του σήμερα
Γ΄
Τις νύχτες με ξυπνά η μακρινή βοή
διαδηλώσεων που έλειψα
σχήματα καπνών βουβές χειρονομίες
Πάλλονται σώματα
φωνές ο αέρας πήζει
τα πέλματα χτυπάνε καταγής
μικρό ρυθμό χταπόδι
που απλώνει τρίμματα τριγμούς
ψίχουλα τόπου μέλλοντος
Στις σφιγμένες χούφτες τους ζυγιάζουν
καλούμπες λεπτεπίλεπτες ονείρων
Μη τραγουδάτε ακόμα
Πλημμυρίζουν τα στενά
τις εισόδους των πολυκατοικιών
τις σκάλες ανεβαίνουν
στριμώχνονται μες στο μικρό σαλόνι
αισθάνομαι τ’ αθόρυβά τους βήματα
να πλησιάζουν στο υπνοδωμάτιο
ανοίγω και περνούν απέναντι
Πλευρό αλλάζω
και ενώνομαι μαζί τους
The Poet
Iro Nikopoulou (Athens). She has studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts, and she has done many exhibitions in Greece and abroad. Her works can be found in private and public collections (Collection of the Hellenic Parliament, Mouseum Vores etc). Since 1986 he has published five collections of poetry, four collections of short stories and one novel. She has participated as a guest in many International Poetry Festivals. Her poems and short stories have been translated into English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Finnish, Turkish, Croatian, etc. and have been included in many corresponding anthologies. In the context of the 12th Greek-Ibero-American Festival “Literature in Athens” (LEA) was distinguished with the 1st Prize in the relevant short story competition. Ηρώ Νικοπούλου (Αθήνα). Σπούδασε στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας και έχει κάνει πολλές εκθέσεις στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό. Έργα της βρίσκονται σε ιδιωτικές και δημόσιες συλλογές (Συλλογή της Βουλής των Ελλήνων, Μουσείο Βορρέ, κ.α.). Από το 1986 έχει εκδώσει πέντε ποιητικές συλλογές, τέσσερις συλλογές διηγημάτων και ένα μυθιστόρημα. Έχει συμμετάσχει ως καλεσμένη σε πολλά Διεθνή Φεστιβάλ Ποίησης. Ποιήματα και διηγήματά της έχουν μεταφραστεί στα αγγλικά, γαλλικά, ισπανικά, ιταλικά, ρωσικά, βουλγαρικά, ρουμανικά, φινλανδικά, τουρκικά, κροατικά και έχουν συμπεριληφθεί σε πολλές αντίστοιχες ανθολογίες. Συνδιευθύνει με τον Γιάννη Πατίλη την ιστοσελίδα για το μικρό διήγημα Πλανόδιον-Ιστορίες Μπονζάι. Στο πλαίσιο του 12ου Ελληνοϊβηροαμερικανικού Φεστιβάλ «Η Λογοτεχνία στην Αθήνα» (ΛΕΑ) διακρίθηκε με το 1ο Βραβείο στον σχετικό διαγωνισμό διηγήματος.
